Even the best-made, highest quality jewelry is delicate. If not handled properly, jewelry will break or become damaged.
Handmade jewelry can be EXTRA delicate so a little extra care will allow it to last a lifetime.

When you want an individualized look, you wear handmade jewelry, but wearing these unique pieces of jewelry means you'll need to clean them as they are exposed to chemicals, the elements and the little messes of everyday life. Because handmade jewelry is so delicate, caring for it requires special measures. Keep your handcrafted jewelry clean and beautiful for years to come by following these simple steps for cleaning and storing unique jewelry.
General Jewelry Care:
All handcrafted jewelry is delicate and will experience normal wear and tear. Avoid rough handling. This means, do not wear your jewelry if you plan for example, to go mountain climbing or similar. A good rule for any jewelry is - LAST ON, FIRST OFF!
- Do not put your jewelry on until AFTER you have dressed and applied any cosmetics, hairspray, perfume, lotions and other chemicals. These can dull and even harm your jewelry.
- Do not sleep with your jewelry on. This causes unnecessary stress on the components and will make them more likely to break.
- Remove jewelry before doing household chores, especially when washing dishes. Remember, many household cleaners contain bleach or other harsh chemicals that are harmful to jewelry.
- Do not wear your jewelry swimming or in the shower. Avoid wearing it around chlorinated pools and hot tubs, salt water, mineral springs and suntan lotion.
- Be sure to avoid chemicals like alcohol, ammonia, bleach, chlorine, acetone, hairspray, perfume and cosmetics.
- Store properly When you're not wearing or cleaning your handmade jewelry, keep it safe from loss as well as tarnish and age in your jewelry box. Never store your silver jewelry pieces in the open air, as this will make them tarnish faster.
- Before wearing, always check all of the connections, clasps, and jumprings. If something is loose, bring the piece to me for maintenance, or get handy with needle nose pliers to tighten loose elements. Contact me for any advice or assistance.
Lava Bead Jewelry Care:
Please apply essential oils only to the lava beads. If you happen to get any on your chain or elsewhere, simply wipe clean. Avoid wearing your jewelry while showering, sleeping, swimming, and exercising.
Dina's Originals is not responsible for the type of essential oils you use or how you use them. I do however recommend using 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils as they should not stain your clothes when applied as recommended. They will also deliver the most beneficial aromatic experience.

DO NOT USE
- Commercial Jewelry Cleaner. Liquid jewelry cleaning solution is not safe for all jewelry and may damage some stones so you are better to use mild soap, rinsing, and polishing. Many contain ammonia.
- Do not use solvents or any harsh chemicals.
- Do not use Windex!
- Do not use toothpaste and a toothbrush.
